Commercial & Residential Code Status Maps

The Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP) has created maps to serve as a nationwide snapshot of commerical and residential building energy code adoption status across every U.S. state and territory.  Each map compares the stringency of each state's adopted commercial and residential energy code against the stringency of of the national model energy codes -- the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and ASHRAE Standard 90.1 (the latest model code editions are the 2009 IECC and ASHRAE 90.1-2007). In instances where a state has developed its own code separate from an edition of the national model codes, the maps approximate its stringency relative to the model codes.

Click on an individual state or territory to view the most up-to-date, detailed code status information from BCAP on building energy codes in that area.

Every effort is made to ensure that they are accurate and up-to-date. If you have any questions or comments about the maps, please contact us
